Argonne Rd. Reconstruction Project

Impact level:
High
Project location:
Argonne Rd. between Frederick Ave. & South Riverway
Project start date:
5/2/2009
Project end date:
9/2/2009

This project includes resurfacing Argonne Rd. between Frederick Ave. and South Riverway in Millwood. A concrete intersection will be installed at Euclid and Empire and sidewalks and wheelchair ramps will also be added.

Work is being done overnight to limit congestion, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day. The speed limit has been dropped to 25 mph in the construction zone and side streets are closed to help avoid delays caused by cars trying to get on or off of side streets.

This is not a Washington State Department of Transportation construction project. While the WSDOT is administering federal grant funds for this project in the amount of $1.3 million, this project is not affiliated with the WSDOT. It is a City of Millwood project, which has contracted Welch-Comer Engineers to manage it.

An additional $120,000 grant from the state Transportation Improvement Board will help with pedestrian improvements such as bulb outs (traffic-calming devices that narrow the street by widening the curb and sidewalk) and sidewalks.
